How Wisdom Tooth Removal Surgery is Performed

Posted .

Do you have wisdom teeth in need of being extracted?  This is a popular procedure that so many people must endure at some point in their lives.  You may be able to have wisdom teeth pulled in our office or be referred to a dental surgeon for surgery. Where you go will depend on the type and severity of procedures you need to have done. Here are a few things you can anticipate from your treatment:

When the wisdom tooth removal surgery begins, our dentist will go over sedation options with you to make the procedure as comfortable as possible. (Often, you will have this data presented to you in advance in case there is anything you need to do to prep for it.)

Once the numbing agents have been used, the doctor will cut an incision in your gums if the tooth is impacted. They will then carefully break apart and remove the wisdom tooth piece by piece. If there is any bone in the way of the wisdom tooth’s roots, it may need to be removed too.

Once the tooth is totally removed, the doctor or surgeon and their team will clean out the socket, stitch it up and place gauze on it to promote healing and clot production.

Stop procrastinating: call 757-340-8805 now to pencil in a consultation with Drs. Alan Kessler and Tiffany Foster-Kessler and the London Bridge Smiles staff. It’s time you got the smile of your dreams.
