The Tooth Brushing Habits That Can Do More Harm Than Good

Posted .

If you want a strong, healthy, and even beautiful smile, then you need to have a proper and effective tooth brushing routine. Unfortunately, there are habits you can pick up that can alter the condition of your teeth and gums and even mess with the health of your smile. It’s very important to avoid those habits as much as possible. To help you do so, our dentist, Dr. Alan Kessler, is happy to list those habits here:

-Using a hard-bristled toothbrush (It’s best to use a soft-bristled toothbrush so the teeth can be cleaned and the gums can be cared for)

-Not using the right toothbrush (It’s best to use a toothbrush that has been approved by the American Dental Association. The seal of approval proves that the brush is safe and effective in an oral hygiene routine)

-Not brushing for the appropriate amount of time (It’s best to brush for two minutes each time you scrub your smile)

-Brushing too hard or too often (You should brush your teeth with a gentle motion and you should brush every morning and night)
